What is a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC)?

A Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) is money invested with guaranteed interest rates for a specific length of time.

• Interest is determined by the frequency of interest payments, either monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually and at maturity.
  
  
• Minimum deposit for term and interest payment plan.
  
  
• Only redeemable at maturity, except in the event of death of registered owners.
  
  
• GICs may be used in a RSP or a RIF plan.
