ATB Financial and Calgary Co-op partner with a new MasterCard® affinity program

Calgary, Alberta – ATB Financial and Calgary Co-operative Association Limited (Calgary Co-op) announced today a co-branded MasterCard® rewards credit card.

The Calgary Co-op MasterCard® is exclusively designed for members of Calgary Co-op. Customers will earn 10 points for every $1 spent, anywhere they shop. In addition, customers will earn double points on purchases made at any Calgary Co-op on the first Tuesday of each month. Points earned can be redeemed for Calgary Co-op gift cards, which can be used to purchase groceries, gas and travel at any Calgary Co-op. The Calgary Co-op MasterCard reward program will be in addition to the existing Calgary Co-op annual patronage returns program (where profits are shared with members at year end). The combination of these two reward programs provides the Calgary Co-op with a compelling value proposition to their members.

The launch of the affinity MasterCard marks Calgary Co-op’s entry into the credit card loyalty segment to better meet the needs of their customers. “Our members told us that they wanted the benefit of a rewards-based consumer credit card,” says Ken McCullough, CEO of Calgary Co-op. “Partnering with ATB Financial is a natural fit for two customer-service driven companies to provide a product tailored directly to the needs of Calgary Co-op members.”
