ATB Financial to acquire all asset-backed commercial paper of ATB Money Market Fund

Edmonton, Alberta - ATB Investment Management Inc. (ATBIM), the trustee, manager and portfolio adviser of the ATB Money Market Fund, announced today that it has received regulatory approval for its parent company, ATB Financial (the business name of Alberta Treasury Branches), to purchase all of the non-bank asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) held by the ATB Money Market Fund in exchange for cash, guaranteed deposit certificates issued by ATB Financial or other short term government securities. Although neither ATBIM nor ATB Financial has any obligation to take these measures, they are being taken in an effort to insulate investors in the ATB Money Market Fund from the effects of the current liquidity problems in the ABCP market.

The ATB Money Market Fund's Independent Review Committee has reviewed and approved this transaction.

The deposit certificates of ATB Financial issued to the Fund in exchange for ABCP will have the same value and terms of the ABCP purchased by ATB Financial. ATBIM and ATB Financial will complete the transaction as soon as is practicable.
