Rob Bennett
Rob Bennett Executive Vice President, Retail Financial Services
Rob is responsible for Retail Financial Services portfolios, retail network and
distribution channels to our clients. He and his team ensure that ATB Financial
is there for Albertans to help them reach their goals with financial solutions tailored
to their needs. He also serves as a senior spokesperson in the province and contributor
to the overall strategic vision of ATB Financial.
Prior to joining ATB, Rob gained 20 years of banking experience across multiple
markets in Ontario and the Prairie Provinces. Most recently, Rob was a Regional
Vice President and Regional Sales Manager with RBC and was previously the Vice President
- Manitoba and Saskatchewan for CIBC Retail Markets.
Rob is a member of the Retail Banking Executive Circle, an organization which includes
the retail leads of most of North America's largest financial institutions, and
the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors. He has also served on the Board of
Directors for various community organizations and is a former Division Chair of
the Winnipeg United Way campaign cabinet.
A native of Burlington, Ontario, Rob spent much of his youth in St. Albert, Alberta.
He later returned to Ontario where he earned an undergraduate BA majoring in Law
at Carleton University in Ottawa.
Rob is a former national rowing champion and still enjoys being on the water. Hiking,
hockey, volunteering and spending time with family are among his favourite activities.
Samson Lamb
Samson Lamb Vice President, Card Services
Samson leads all aspects of the Credit Card and Card Payment Processing businesses
at ATB. This covers all components including product development and distribution
strategies, service, credit, operations, co-brand management and strategy analytics.
Samson is passionate about community involvement and has acted as Director for the
Wood's Homes Foundation, which provides programs and services for troubled children,
youth and their families. He also contributes his time to the Heart & Stroke
Foundation, as well as the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Karen Comeau
Karen Comeau Vice President, Sales & Operations
As Vice President of Retail Financial Services (RFS) – Sales and Operations, Karen
Comeau provides guidance and oversees services to improve policy and procedures
for sales, credit risk and operational support to the lines of business. Her team
works closely with all imbedded partners and oversees the business planning process
for RFS.
Karen started her career with ATB almost 25 years ago. She has held numerous positions
in both branch and corporate during this time—including 10 years in Business Credit
as a credit adjudicator. She also helped organize and host the first ATB Women’s
Conference and is an active participant in ATB mentorship programs.
In her spare time she enjoys bike trips through the mountains and travelling.
Steven Fedorchuk
Steven Fedorchuk Vice President, Customer Care Centre & Direct Sales
Steve leads a dynamic group of leaders and associates that serve ATB customers where
they want, when they want, and how they want. Whether by phone, email, or meeting
customers at their place of business or home, his team works hard to earn the love
and respect of Albertans. Moving forward, Steve's goal is take the Contact Centre
and Mobile Personal Banking team into the future with a seamless customer experience
that takes full advantage of new technologies, channels, and customer offers.
Steve knows Financial Services, accumulating over 20 years of Executive & Leadership
experience in Retail, Independent Business, Wealth Management, and Financial Planning
across Western Canada. Most recently at ATB, he served as Regional Vice-President
for the Branch network in the Calgary Region. Steve has also achieved his MBA and
Bachelor of Commerce Degrees, specializing in Marketing and in Finance.
Steve invests in the community through various organizations, currently serving
on the board of directors for Red Cross in Southern Alberta. He also volunteers
as a member of the Calgary Search and Rescue Ground Search team and the Red Cross
Disaster Management team. Steve balances out his work and community life with a
love of outdoor activities and world travel.
Sue Voigt
Sue Voigt Vice President, Leadership, Retail Financial Services
Sue's chief responsibility is the development and implementation of a leadership
strategy for ATB Retail Financial Services including a long term strategy to enhance
key leadership roles within the branch network at ATB. Her work will impact all
areas of talent management within ATB including identifying, shaping, and retaining
key skills that will help create and maintain world class leaders. Her goal is to
develop a truly unique banking experience at ATB through great leadership development.
Sue comes to ATB after ten years with Best Buy Canada, where she served in several
senior leadership roles including Vice-President HR, Leadership & Communications
for Future Shop, as well as Vice President Corporate HR and Communications for Best
Buy Canada. A native of Zimbabwe, Sue grew up in six different countries – mostly
in Africa – before finally migrating to Vancouver, Canada. She has a diploma in
Human Resources Management and a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from
Royal Roads University in Victoria.
Sue currently sits on the board for Lester B. Pearson College in Victoria. In her
spare time, Sue enjoys home renovations, travelling, golf, and horseback riding.
Kim Irving
Kim Irving Vice President, Edmonton Region
Kim Irving oversees 34 branches and 10 agencies, leading a team of associates to
success in the Edmonton and surrounding areas. He oversees all the facets of the
branch operations including human resources, sales, and long and short-term goal
setting. As one of five regional vice presidents for Retail Financial Services,
Kim and his team are responsible for delivering an exceptional client experience,
providing world-class solutions for clients, day-to-day operations, while maintaining
a positive working environment for associates.
Kim's experience in the banking industry spans 20 years. His experience includes
estate and trust administration, portfolio management, retail and independent business
branch and regional leadership.
Kim strongly believes in the value of safe and healthy communities, and this passion
has led him to serve as an executive board member of Crime Stoppers. He also stays
physically active and involved in his community through coaching hockey, baseball
and other sports.
Chuck McConnell
Chuck McConnell Vice President, North Region
Chuck oversees the north region, consisting of 40 branches and 36 agencies, extending
from Elk Point to High Level and Jasper to Cold Lake. His team is responsible for
providing sales and service excellence to our expanding marketplace through an engaged
team of associates.
As one of the five regional vice presidents in Retail Financial Services, Chuck
and his team are responsible for delivering an exceptional client experience, providing
world-class solutions for clients, managing day-to-day operations and maintaining
a positive working environment for associates.
Chuck is a firm believer in the benefits of community involvement and participates
in amateur sports associations.
Rob Smith
Robert B. G. (Rob) Smith Vice President, South Region
Rob oversees 26 branches and 33 agencies spanning the entire southern part of Alberta.
As one of five regional vice presidents for Retail Financial Services, Rob and his
team are responsible for delivering an exceptional client experience, providing
world-class solutions for our clients and the day-to-day operations, while creating
a positive working environment for our branch associates.
Rob has been in the financial services industry for 22 years. He is an active member
of the Canadian Institute of Financial Planners and an instructor at the Terry Royer
Institute for Business Training and Development.
Rob is also the author of As Long as I'm Sitting Here (2007), a light-hearted
look at motivational seminars.
John Swarbrick
John Swarbrick Vice President, Central Region
John is responsible for sales and service delivery in 37 branches and 51 agencies.
He oversees all the aspects of the branches and agencies including human resources,
sales and goal setting.
John joined ATB Financial in 2000 as the District General Manager, Central Region.
In this role, he saw consistent high performance and strong employee engagement
results within his districts. In November 2006, he became the Director of Operational
and Strategic Initiatives, overseeing many successful initiatives, including the
development of ATB's strategy for managing new branch builds.
John serves as Director of the Sutter Fund charity, which is a non-profit organization
that raises funds for worthwhile projects in Central Alberta. One of their main
events is the Sutter Fund Charity Golf Classic. John has volunteered for the Red
Deer Centrefest and Canadian Parents for French. He enjoys curling and golfing.
ATB Corporate Financial Services
Ian Wild
Ian Wild Executive Vice President, Corporate Financial Services
Ian is responsible for the Corporate Financial Services portfolios. He and his team
are charged with ensuring ATB Financial has a strong market share that reflects
the needs of Albertans.
Ian brings to ATB 25 years of banking experience from RBC Capital Markets, where
he was Vice President, Investment Banking. His tenure of 16 years at Royal Bank
Financial Group included the role of Vice President - Corporate Banking, Calgary,
and senior account management roles in Oil & Gas Banking. Prior to his immigration
to Canada, he worked for National Westminster Bank Ltd., International Division
in London, U.K., where he held positions in international credit, corporate finance
and trade finance.
As a volunteer, Ian is heavily involved with his children's school. He is also
a member of the Chairman's Circle of SAIT, an advisory group that provides direction
on the institution's overall educational plan and goals.
Ian is a Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, and an Associate of the
Chartered Institute of Bankers of the United Kingdom.
Mario Frison
Mario Frison Vice President, Corporate Financial Services
Mario is responsible for three crucial drivers for the future success of ATB Corporate
Financial Services and its vision of enabling businesses to succeed and helping
Alberta become a global centre of finance. Leadership accountability for the Core
banking project as it pertains to the CFS line of business, cash management and,
strategic initiatives/new line of business and new products.
Previously Mario was responsible for the Solutions team in ATB Investor Services
and before that lead the Commercial team within CFS with leadership responsibility
for diversified and real estate lending throughout Alberta.
Before joining ATB Financial in 2004, Mario spent six years with RBC, between Calgary,
Toronto, and Windsor. He has more than 15 years of banking experience with some
of Canada's major financial institutions. Mario achieved his Bachelor of Commerce
degree and MBA at the University of Windsor in Ontario and is a Chartered Financial
Analyst.
Mario is actively involved with Habitat for Humanity in Calgary.
Bruce Edgelow
Bruce Edgelow Vice President, Energy Group
Bruce is responsible for helping to build ATB Financial's Energy business and capabilities. His team consists of industry specialists in all aspects of the energy industry, including: drilling and service, pipelines, utilities, midstream, exploration and production.
Before joining ATB, Bruce was a senior Royal banker and has more than 39 years of experience with a focus on the oil and gas industry.
Bruce is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, has attained the ICD.D designation, and is a very active participant in community and church activities. He also serves as a Director for the Calgary Counselling Centre and sits on SAIT's Board Advisory Council. He has also been a speaker at numerous oil and gas industry seminars on finance.
Tim Gillespie
Tim Gillespie VP Commercial
Tim is responsible for the strategy, direction and leadership of the division in
our southern region including the centres of Calgary and Lethbridge. This group
provides expert services (direct and syndicated) to mid- and senior-market businesses
in Real Estate, Diversified and Food & Forestry sectors operating throughout
the province.
Tim is an experienced banker with more than 20 years dedicated to the financial
services industry to date. Prior to his current role, Tim was Director in the division’s
Commercial Group where he was responsible for building and nurturing a strong relationship
portfolio, primarily focused on the transportation, telecommunication, technology
and manufacturing sectors. He has been with ATB Financial for over 5 years, and
also has significant banking experience with both another major Canadian financial
institution as well as a Denmark-based institution where he specialized in all areas
of lending with specific emphasis on technology.
Outside of work, Tim is active in the city of Calgary, both from a business and
industry perspective, as well as from a community perspective. Tim has past and
current board involvement with the ASTech Foundation, the Calgary Soccer Foundation
and the Calgary Minor Soccer Association. Tim is based in Calgary and holds a CFA
designation.
ATB Investor Services
Sheldon Dyck
Sheldon Dyck Executive Vice President; President, ATB Investor Services
Sheldon Dyck leads the Investor Services business at ATB Financial, which is made
up of four subsidiary companies: ATB Investment Management, ATB Investment Services,
ATB Securities, and ATB Insurance Advisors Inc. This includes leading teams of advisors,
portfolio managers, compliance and operations staff, and Investor Services senior
executives. Sheldon is also the Chief Investment Officer for ATB Investment Management's
Compass Portfolio Series of Mutual Funds.
Before moving to Investor Services, Sheldon led the Business and Retail Banking
Sales teams at ATB Financial for four years and was responsible for asset and liability
portfolios of $3-$5 billion. Prior to joining ATB in 1998, Sheldon worked with CIBC
in specialized finance. Sheldon is also an experienced entrepreneur, having owned
and managed a number of business and investment ventures.
Currently, Sheldon is a member of the Chairman's Circle of SAIT, the mandate
of which is to provide advice regarding SAIT's overall educational directions
and goals, and recommendations for expanding and strengthening external partnerships.
Sheldon is also a member of Mensa Canada.
Previously, Sheldon served a three-year term on the Board of Governors for CGA Alberta
and enjoyed teaching Sales Management at the University of Alberta for a number
of years.
Sheldon is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and he balances his pursuit of life-long
learning with a passion for golf, hockey and scuba diving.
Ursula Holmsten
Ursula Holmsten Chief Financial Officer & VP, Finance
Ursula joined ATB Investor Services as the Managing Director, Finance, in December
2008, bringing 13 years of brokerage industry experience to ATB. She subsequently
moved into the VP, Finance role in August 2009, assuming the additional responsibility
of overseeing the Investment Operations Group (IOG).
In her current role as Chief Financial Officer, Ursula is responsible for driving
operational efficiencies and regulatory excellence through a strategic view to budgeting;
financial and regulatory reporting; as well as management reporting for all three
Investor Services subsidiaries.
Ursula holds an Honors Degree in Public Administration from Carleton University
and a CGA accounting designation, obtained via the Alberta Chapter of CGA Canada.
As a mother of two young girls, Ursula is a strong believer in maintaining a healthy
balance between work and personal life. ATB has provided Ursula with the opportunity
to commit more time to her children and to be a better role model in their lives.
She is also an avid fitness and sports enthusiast.
Miles Kotylak
Miles Kotylak Vice President, Advisory Services
Miles Kotylak has been working in the financial industry for 21 years. The last
9 years have been with ATB Financial. He started as one of the company's original
Investment Advisors and was an integral part in developing and launching ATB Investor
Services from day one
Currently Miles is responsible for leading the advisory team at ATB Investor Services.
His direct leadership to the Regional Managers throughout the province helps focus
on building the best team of Advisors to serve Albertans by maintaining industry
leading customer service, and creating an engaged team of employees that are among
the top in Canada.
In addition to helping launch one of ATB Financial's most successful line of
business, Miles also credits a trip to Rwanda, Africa as a major life accomplishment.
There he helped build a church and schools, which he believed helped build his character
and personal philosophy toward leadership.
In his spare time, Miles is an active family man with a wife and two young boys.
The family spends a lot of time outside in the summer and lead various group studies
within their community.
Brian Kjenner
Brian Kjenner Senior Vice-President, Opportunities & Efficiencies
Brian oversees several key areas within Investor Services that center on us producing
more revenue while consuming fewer resources. Working closely with our internal
partners, Brian is focused on discovering opportunities to link existing and potential
ATB customers who have wealth management needs with Investor Services advisors.
Brian also leads the team of ATB Insurance Advisors who offer life insurance, disability,
critical illness, estate, farm, and business succession planning to ATB customers
and beyond.
In terms of consuming less, Brian leads our efficiency initiative that is focused
on developing and implementing processes and tools that allow our advisors to work
in the most efficient manner possible. This includes refining work procedures to
save time spent on administration, as well as using technology in ways that allow
us to reduce costs such as travel and office expenses.
Prior to joining ATB, Brian worked as a private consultant, offering sales training
and consulting to many great companies including ATB. Brian is also the author of
Rocket-Man: The Resurrection!, which is a fictional book written to help sales people
become brilliant at the basics.
Mike Frederick
Mike Frederick Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Investor Services
Michael Frederick brings over 16 years of experience in the investment industry to his role of Senior VP & Chief Operating Officer for ATB Investor Services. Mike drives the maximization of operating performance for Investor Services. His areas of accountability include: strategic planning, financial metrics reporting, regulatory compliance, investment operations and IT projects and infrastructure.
While in the Certified Management Accounting program he earned the CMA Scholarship in Accounting for his academic achievement and community involvement. He obtained both his Chartered Accountant (CA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations.
Business & Agriculture
Wellington Holbrook
Wellington Holbrook Executive Vice President, Business & Agriculture
Wellington is responsible for shaping ATB's overall approach to meet the growing
needs of businesses and agri-businesses across Alberta.
Wellington joined ATB as Executive Vice-President, Retail Financial Services in
summer 2010. Previously, he had spent 15 years supporting Canadian business through
consulting support, conventional debt financing and mezzanine capital financing
while with the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). His last senior leadership
role at BDC was Senior Vice-President, Operations for Prairies and Western Canada,
and he previously occupied roles of Vice-President & Area Manager, Manitoba & Saskatchewan
as well as Managing Director, Subordinate Financing in Ontario & Atlantic Canada.
Wellington has also been involved with other organizations focused on business in
the areas of Entrepreneurship and Agriculture.
In 2008, Wellington was selected by the Clerk to the Privy Council of Canada as
one of a handful of leading Canadian government executives to participate in the
Advanced Leadership program delivered by the Canada School of Public Service with
the support of Canada's Foreign Service. This 12-month program enabled Wellington
to meet some of the world's leading business executives and government leaders from
around the globe and learn from them directly. He has brought those skills back
to Alberta to support entrepreneurs and business leaders here. Today, Wellington
is a member of the Executive Board's Small Business Executive Circle, an organization
which includes the business leads of many of North America's largest financial institutions.
Born in Edmonton but having lived across Canada, Wellington earned his Bachelor
of Commerce (Hons.) degree at the University of Manitoba and completed other studies
at Concordia University in Montreal. He now lives in Calgary with his family.
Dan Allen
Dan Allen Vice-President, Business & Agriculture
As Vice-President, Business & Agriculture, Dan is responsible for providing
sales and service leadership and direction to the line of business. His position
is also critical in the strategic development of a sales and service platform.
Dan's specific accountabilities include leading regional business managers in setting
goals and targets for growth, providing guidance and support for credit decisions
and recommendations, and developing and executing strategies and initiatives to
support business performance, customer experience and employee engagement.
Dan is a graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He brings over 31
years of banking experience to ATB and has an extensive background in leading successful
businesses in both rural and urban Alberta. Most recently, he held the position
of Associate Vice-President for CIBC.
Dan is originally from Peterborough, Ontario, but has lived in Alberta for 31 years.
He is a strong supporter of the United Way and also volunteers his time with the
Killarney Swim Club in Calgary. In his spare time, Dan is an avid reader, enjoys
going to movies with his daughters and he hasn't met a golf course he didn't like.
Ed Knash
Ed Knash Vice President, Agriculture
Ed is an experienced banker with more than 25 years dedicated to the financial services
industry. He is responsible for the strategy and direction of ATB Financial's Agriculture
sector.
Ed has been with ATB Financial for over 10 years, and also has significant banking
experience, largely in the agricultural and agri-business industries, with another
major Canadian bank. During his career he has also worked in several positions with
the provincial agriculture departments for both Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Ed is a founding member and Past-Chair of the Agriculture & Food Council. He is
a founding board member for both Alberta value-Added Corporation Ltd. and the Alberta
Biotechnology Association. Ed is a board member and past Chair of the Alberta Science
& Technology Leadership Awards Foundation, as well as being actively involved with
Growing Alberta. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Council for the University
of Alberta Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences.
Personally, Ed was born and raised on a farm in eastern Saskatchewan and still has
an ongoing interest in farming. He holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture and a B.Ed. from
the University of Saskatchewan.
Steve Zink
Steve Zink Vice-President, Sales and Service Strategies
Steve is the newest member of the Business and Agriculture executive team, having
started in January 2012. He has more than two decades of experience with the Business
Development Bank of Canada and Canadian Western Bank.
After working in the business banking sector for years, Steve has gained a great
deal of respect for entrepreneurs as well as small and medium sized businesses owners.
He made the move to Alberta because he knew he could help businesses grow across
the province.
Associate & External Relations
Maureen Galway
Maureen Galway Vice President, Human Resources
Maureen leads the business partner and recruiting teams for ATB. In addition to
her leadership role, she is ATB's Chief Negotiator and is responsible for Retail
Financial Services' human resources strategy as a member of that line of business's
leadership team.
Peggy Garritty
Peggy Garritty Senior Vice President, Communications and Corporate Responsibility
Peggy leads a team responsible for external communications and positioning of ATB
across the province, internal communications with associates, media relations, stakeholder
relations with our government shareholder, and the growing area of corporate responsibility.
Before joining ATB, Peggy ran her own consulting firm, where she was responsible
for a number of award-winning communication programs.
Peggy is a founding member of the Board for the St. Albert Community Foundation
and a past member of the St. Albert Rotary Club. Peggy is also a supporter of the
Capital Region River Valley Alliance.
John Windwick
John Windwick Vice President, Community and Government Relations
With over 20 years banking experience, John brings a wealth of knowledge to ATB
Financial. His varied career began in sales, then marketing, and then into several
key projects within ATB.
John is currently the vice-president of ATB Financial's Community and Government
Relations group. He is responsible for a team of dedicated individuals who support,
run and promote ATB Financial in the communities across Alberta. John's team is
responsible for ATB lead community initiatives, sponsorships, events, and promotions.
John is an active volunteer, driven to support his community in many endeavours.
Currently sitting as the Chair of the Northlands Board of Directors, John has been
the director responsible for both Capital Ex and the Canadian Finals Rodeo. He has
previously chaired the 65 Roses Sports Committee (Cystic Fibrosis Research), the
TELUS Edmonton Open (9 years) and he currently sits as the Commissioner of the Canadian
Finals Rodeo.
John has a wife and daughter and resides in Edmonton. He has a passion for his family,
sports, his company, and his community.
Nolan Berg
Nolan Berg Vice President, Marketing
Nolan is a 20-year veteran of marketing and marketing communications. He has led
marketing strategy within companies including DuPont, has consulted to companies
on marketing strategy and ran two successful North American advertising agencies.
He loves and lives brand experiences.
Nolan and his team are responsible for the ATB Financial customer experience and
works closely with the lines of business and other brand stakeholders to deliver
a consistently superior ATB experience. On top of this, Nolan and his team lead
the creative aspects of the brand experience including advertising and promotion.
In his spare time he enjoys experiencing the wonderful amenities of Alberta with
his wife and two daughters.
Finance & Administraion
Jim McKillop
Jim McKillop Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Jim is responsible for leading a group of internal service
providers and providing overall financial management processes for the organization.
These include finance, treasury, facilities and real estate, legal services, and
central administration. Jim also serves as a director of four ATB subsidiaries:
ATB Investment Services Inc., ATB Investment Management Inc., ATB Securities Inc.,
and ATB Insurance Advisors Inc.
Prior to joining ATB Financial, Jim served as VP of Finance and CFO for Lilydale
Foods. He also spent two years in Prague, Czech Republic, as Controller for a wireless
phone company, as well as nine years with both the Telus Corporation and Echo Bay
Mines in various capacities.
Jim graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Business Administration
and Commerce. He is also a chartered accountant.
Stuart McKellar
Stuart McKellar Vice President, Properties, Legal and Corporate Secretary
Stuart McKellar is proud to lead the Facilities, Real Estate and Supply Chain, and
the Legal Services departments. These creative, service-oriented teams focus on
finding and delivering the best possible solutions for their internal partners.
Stuart also provides corporate secretary support to the ATB Board of Directors and
to the Investor Services subsidiaries of ATB.
Stuart joined ATB in 1997 after seven years in private practice with a respected
local law firm. He is recognized for his work on the highly complex Asset Backed
Commercial Paper restructuring file, which had an international impact.
Stuart earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and his
Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta. Stuart is a member of the
Law Society of Alberta and a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, holding
the ICD.D designation. A native Albertan, he balances his pursuit for life-long
learning with spending time with family and friends.
Michelle Beck
Michelle Beck Vice President People, Planning and Partnerships
Michelle breathes life into the people strategic initiatives and processes that
impact the organization, with a focus on the 200-people CFO Portfolio team. Michelle’s
passion for people and enabling their success, along with her 20 years of broad
management experience bridging a number of different industries, uniquely positions
Michelle to help make ATB the place to work. Prior to joining ATB in 2004, Michelle
held senior finance positions at Lilydale and KPMG in Edmonton, and the JD Irving
group in Frederick, New Brunswick.
Michelle earned her bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Alberta
and went on to complete her CA designation with KPMG Edmonton in 1996.
Michelle, her husband Rodger, and daughter currently call Sherwood Park home. Outside
of work, Michelle enjoys traveling, reading and spending time at the cabin with
family and friends.
Lukasz Forys
Lukasz Forys Vice President, Global Financial Markets
Lukasz’s love of travel makes him a perfect fit for leading all global financial
market functions at ATB Financial. His responsibilities include staying abreast
of trends within the money markets, foreign exchange, investment management, and
global financial products.
He and his team of financial markets professionals are responsible for managing
the foreign exchange position, bidding on large money market term deposits, as well
as managing investment portfolios. They are also responsible for risk management
solutions and trading in the areas of derivatives, as well as institutional foreign
exchange and institutional money markets.
Lukasz holds an MBA in Financial Management with Presidential Honours. He also holds
equivalent degrees of Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Arts (Economics).
Doug Banks
Doug Banks Vice President, Finance - Service
Doug leads the Finance-Service team who provides strategic financial advice, business
modeling expertise and business process optimization services. Doug also oversees
the embedded finance functions to the lines of business who are responsible for
reporting and analysis and financial management controls for the lines of business.
Prior to joining ATB in 2003, Doug served as interim Director of Finance for Lilydale
Foods. He also spent time in Bermuda, acting as Chief Financial Officer of a U.S.
SEC-registered investment firm and as an Audit Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers
where he led the audits of Canadian and offshore mutual funds, international pension
funds and investment operations of multinational companies and reinsurance companies.
Doug moved offshore after articling with KPMG in Edmonton.
Doug earned Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degrees at
the University of Alberta and is both a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial
Analyst. In his spare time, Doug enjoys reading, camping and travelling with his
wife Shelly and is an avid hockey and football fan.
Vic Israni
Vic Israni Senior Vice-President and Treasurer
As Treasurer, Vic is responsible for optimizing asset and liability management,
improving capital planning and enhancing funding and investments. In other words,
Vic and his team play a pivotal role for ATB: they look after the money.
Vic's career encompasses over 25 years of experience in the financial industry.
In his 14 years of senior financial institution experience, Vic has been a driving
force in finance and risk policy-making, corporate planning, and risk management
for some of the biggest banks in the United States. He joined ATB in 2011 from Fifth
Third Bank in Cincinnati, where he most recently served as the Senior Risk Officer-Commercial
Banking.
In his spare time Vic enjoys an active lifestyle on the ski hills with his wife
and teenage kids, and exploring the sights and culture of their new home.
Colleen Purdy
Colleen Purdy, CMA Vice-President Finance and Controller
Colleen heads up the Finance Operations team responsible for corporate and management
accounting functions and the enterprise financial performance activities, which
encompasses short-range planning, leadership of the enterprise financial management
framework and providing financial reporting and financial business information.
In addition, Colleen oversees the embedded financial support to the strategic service
units.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Colleen moved to Alberta with her young family
over 20 years ago and is passionate about her community and helping others, which
contributed to her 18-year tenure with Capital Health prior to joining ATB in 2009.
She was actively involved in minor hockey, lacrosse and dance when her children
were young and currently sits on YWCA board. When Colleen isn't busy with her family
or community efforts, she likes to travel and discover exotic new locales with her
husband.
Risk Management
Bob Mann
Bob Mann Chief Risk Officer
Bob and his team are responsible for all aspects of risk management across the organization,
including assessment of portfolio risk, decision support and loan adjudication,
operational risk, compliance and privacy. These include all policy issues as they
relate to risk, loan collection and recovery activities, and compliance. Bob also
oversees ATB's Internal Audit team.
Bob joined ATB Financial in 1975 and has held numerous branch management and corporate
office positions since then. He most recently held the position of Executive Vice
President, Credit, from 1997 to 2008.
Bob holds an Associate Diploma from Medicine Hat College's Bachelor of Commerce
Program. He has also completed numerous banking-related courses, including courses
from ATB's Agricultural Lending Program and the Canadian Institute of Bankers
Professional Banking Program.
Dwayne Mann
Dwayne Mann Senior Vice President, Credit
Dwayne leads a team responsible for all credit and risk approval functions at ATB
Financial, including decision support and loan adjudication, all policy issues as
they relate to credit risk, the maintenance of ATB's risk rating and scoring
systems, as well as all loan collection and recovery activities. His team also pursues
new opportunities to build on its expertise and expand business in small business
and agriculture, investment capital for selected commodity-based sectors, and real
estate lending.
Dwayne was born and raised in Ontario but is enthusiastic about being based in Calgary,
a city he fell in love with before he came to ATB Financial. After achieving his
MBA from University of Western Ontario, Dwayne wanted to combine his interest in
finance with the ability to interact with people. Banking was the perfect fit.
Recently Dwayne completed several industry-specific courses to enhance his knowledge
of derivatives, portfolio theory and asset/liability management.
Omar Rehman
Omar Rehman Vice President, Internal Audit
Omar Rehman is a chartered accountant (CA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
and has 13 years of experience in audit including stays at Barclays Captial in the
U.K. and Royal Dutch Shell in Calgary.
As Chief Internal Auditor, Omar Rehman is responsible for evaluating and improving
the effectiveness of the organization's risk management, control and governance
processes.
In his spare time he likes to spend quality time with his family, kickboxing and
travel.
Andy England
Andy England Vice President, Business and Corporate Credit
Andy and his team support the profitable growth and risk-managed credit philosophy
of ATB Financial through the timely and appropriate adjudication of all corporate,
business and agricultural applications for credit in excess of $250,000.
The Business and Corporate Credit team consists of 30 staff in Edmonton and Calgary
who possess extensive experience in agriculture, small business, oil and gas, real
estate, hospitality, manufacturing, and many other sectors and businesses in Alberta.
All are dedicated to meeting the unique needs of Albertans while ensuring ATB Financial's
reputation as a disciplined, ethical and self-sufficient financial institution is
maintained
Andy was born in Cold Lake, Alberta and joined ATB Financial over 30 years ago in
St. Paul, Alberta. He has extensive experience in small business, real estate and
hospitality, and corporate lending as a result of his previous tenures as General
Manager of Corporate Credit and a senior relationship manager with Corporate Financial
Services. Andy also brings with him a strong sense of the culture and history of
ATB Financial and Alberta.
Jay Hamblin
Jay Hamblin Vice President, Asset Management
Jay Hamblin is responsible for Asset Management, a group that provides professional
management of ATB's high risk and impaired loans portfolio with emphasis on
maximizing recoveries and ultimately enhancing ATB's profitability.
Jay joined ATB Financial in 1980, after establishing himself in the banking industry
with the Bank of Montreal. He has held various leadership positions during his 28
years with ATB, including: Vice President Commercial Banking, Regional Vice President
Edmonton South Region, and Branch Manager in several branches. Prior to ATB Financial,
Jay spent seven years with Bank of Montreal.
Jay has his FICB designation (Fellows of the Institute of Canadian Bankers).
Neelam Jolly
Neelam Jolly Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer
Neelam leads the Compliance department consisting of Anti Money Laundering, Privacy
and Regulatory Compliance.
Compliance works with the different lines of business to provide our customers with
sound and safe practices and a positive customer experience.
Neelam joined ATB in 2009, and has over 15 years of experience in legal and compliance
positions in the financial services industry.
Neelam earned her undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Alberta
and her Master's Degree in Law (Alternative Dispute Resolution) from York University.
Strategy and Operations
Curtis Stange
Curtis Stange Chief Strategy and Operations Officer
Curtis is responsible for the overall enterprise strategy and operations for ATB
Financial. Curtis' team ensures we can accelerate, facilitate and support strategies
across the entire enterprise and, at the same time, make sure good ideas get easily
implemented through good processes and leading systems. Curtis jointed ATB in 2009
and was responsible for building a new line of business serving business and agriculture
customers. With his new role, Curtis will ensure that the lines of business are
well served and customers' needs are always front and centre.
Prior to joining ATB, Curtis spent 23 years with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce,
most recently as Vice President, Retail Markets for Alberta where he led 2,000 employees
and was accountable for 800,000 clients.
Curtis earned an agriculture diploma from the University of Saskatchewan, along
with a management diploma and an MBA from Athabasca University. He also has a strong
commitment to his community. Curtis serves on a number of boards including, Ag for
Life, the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way in Calgary, and Theatre Calgary.
Curtis resides near Calgary with his wife and two sons. He enjoys dirt biking, golf
and any other outdoor activity.
Liz Stretch
Liz Stretch Vice President, Sales & Service, Strategy
It might seem like a bit of a paradox to have strategy and operations within one
group, but for ATB Financial to succeed we need to keep these two integrated areas
focused on the same end goal. Liz is charged with the strategic areas of: acting
as a catalyst and steward of ATB 2.0; enabling and accelerating multi-line strategies;
and being a thought starter of the un-enunciated needs of our customers.
Reporting to Liz will be our Alberta Intelligence & Innovation group, along with
the Corporate Business Planning team. Both areas ensure a unique understanding of
Albertans and strong collaboration with all the line of business, creating a consistency
in planning.
Liz joined ATB in January 2010 as the VP Sales & Service, Strategy within IB&Ag.
During her time there, Liz created a team that focused on delivering on IB&Ag’s
associate and customer value propositions. Prior to joining ATB, Liz worked within
the financial industry for 23 years in numerous positions. Liz has earned the FICB
designation, an MBA from Dalhousie University, and is a Certified Financial Planner.
Liz is very excited to join the Strategy and Operations team.
Michael Redeker
Michael Redeker Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Mike is responsible for providing information technology leadership in computing
operations, security, architecture, communications networks, and disaster recovery
for IT services as well as corporate project management implementation and tracking
to all business units.
Michael joined ATB Financial in May 2007 after spending 11 years with IBM Canada,
focused on delivering quality information technology services within the financial
services industry.
Born in Edmonton, Michael has worked in cities across Canada including Vancouver,
Toronto, Regina and Calgary. Michael is a graduate from Northern Alberta Institute
of Technology.
Don Good
Don Good Vice President, Innovation
Revolutionize, transform, metamorphose...these are all synonyms for innovate and
are words that could easily fit within Don Good’s job description. The VP Innovation
is responsible for continuously finding new ways to harness the power of our new
banking system, and who better to do that than Don Good. Don first joined the Core
team in 2007 and throughout the last four years has been a key leader in seeing
the implementation succeed and establishing the Enterprise Support Centre.
Don’s role will oversee a newly created innovation centre within ATB.This centre
will make ATB’s banking system a showcase for innovation. Working with SAP and other
strategic partners, both internally and externally, the innovation centre will act
as a sandbox for new ideas within our banking system. This centre will also act
as a demonstration centre for banks around the globe to understand our world leading
and fully integrated solution.
Don joined ATB in 1980 and his wealth of experience has seen him working in various
roles in branches and in ITSD, Central Services, Internal Audit, Operations, just
to name a few. Don will continue to oversee the Enterprise Support Centre for the
interim.
Dean Ozanne
Dean Ozanne Vice President, Central Services
Dean Ozanne is responsible for Central Services and Operations, providing service
and support to the sales network. Central Services provides processing services
for all retail, business, agricultural loans and deposits. Dean's team also includes
Loan Review, Branch Support — a one-stop help desk that is the primary contact point
for branches to obtain answers to questions on ATB policy, business rule or process
and the Business Ownership Group, which looks after all of the enhancements and
operational requirements of ATB's sales-related software applications.
Dean has a degree in Economics from the University of Alberta. He has a diverse
background, having held many different jobs prior to starting his banking career.
They range from managing a golf course, a crane company and a hotel, to script-writing
for Occupational Health and Safety movies to working as a construction tech for
Bechtel on the construction of the Syncrude plant.
Dean was recently appointed as a founding trustee for the First Nations Market Housing
Fund, is a board member of the Canadian Payments Association, is an ex-board member
with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and is a volunteer advisor with
Canadian Executive Services Offshore (CESO) International Services. CESO provides
subject matter experts in Canada and abroad to help with local economic development
initiatives.
Kirsti Jansson
Kirsti Jansson Vice-President, Strategy, Channels and Payments
Kirsti Jansson leads ATB's Channels and Payments Group, which is one of the most
dynamic places to work in all of ATB. Technology has had and continues to have a
profound impact on all of our lives. Learning how to leverage technology to make
our clients' lives easier is very rewarding and is what drives our team of keen
and energetic ATB associates. In addition to the new and shiny, Kirsti's team also
works hard within the operations group to make sure your money safely gets to its
destination, that the ABMs are ready and waiting for you and the you can pay your
bills online, anytime you want. Understanding the customer and making life easier
can be achieved through channel and payments innovation.
Kirsti's experience in banking began on the front lines 20 years ago as a teller
in Vancouver. From there she worked her way through the ranks eventually hitting
Bay Street in Toronto where she had hands-on experience in innovative payments by
working on the very first mobile banking pilot in Canada. Her passion was sealed
and she knew exactly where she wanted to be. Having been on the front lines, she
has a real appreciation for the simplicity that customers truly desire.
Kirsti's passion is life in the mountains. Having been a nature and animal lover
over for years, the move to Alberta was certainly a good one for her. She is constantly
taken aback by the unique beauty of this province and she and her husband spend
as much time as possible soaking up all of the adventures they possibly can.
