Fans meet Jordan Eberle at ATB event
ATB Eberle Faceoff contest winner Matthew Kachmar, 11, interviews Oilers forward
Jordan Eberle February 13, 2012.
It's not every day you get a chance to meet your hero. For more than 200 Edmonton hockey fans, February 13, 2012 was a pretty special day.
Jordan Eberle—fresh off his first appearance in the NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa—got up close and personal with his fans at the first-ever ATB Financial Eberle Faceoff.
Eberle chatted onstage with former NHLer and broadcaster Rob Brown, posed for photos, and signed autographs for everyone in attendance.
"It was definitely very good and it was a dream come true," exclaimed Oilers fan Tina Hjelm.
As an added bonus, Eberle fielded a few questions from kid reporter Matthew Kachmar, who won ATB's Eberle Faceoff contest for a chance to interview his hockey idol. It was a night the 11-year-old Kachmar won't soon forget.
"I was excited and when I got here I was a little nervous," he said. "Once I got on stage, I was fine."
It was also a night to remember for Eberle, always happy to spend time with fans.
"It was fun," beamed the Oilers' leading scorer. "There were a lot of kids, which was great. At the All-Star Game I got to meet some of my role models that I watched when I was younger so if these guys get to do that at a young age, it's great."
