As we support our province’s businesses and industry, we also believe it is our responsibility to be stewards of Alberta’s environment.
Reducing our impact
While we work to become a greener organization, we purchase Renewable Energy Certificates to help reduce the carbon footprint of our branch network. We also continue to purchase the power for our ABMs through an agreement with Bullfrog Power, with all profits going to renewable energy projects.
We offer our customers reduced mortgage rates for energy efficient homes or renovations that increase the efficiency of a home. Reduced insurance premiums are also available on energy efficient homes. We also offer a similar reduction for car loans if the car meets fuel efficiency standards.
The ATB Financial Legacy Fund was created with a $5 million loan from ATB, paired with a yearly donation that will cover the interest on the loan. The loan will support Ducks Unlimited Canada’s Revolving Land Program to fund the purchase and restoration of thousands of acres of wetlands. Over the 10-year partnership, an estimated 60 projects will be funded, resulting in 9,500 acres of restored wetlands.
We are extremely proud of the ATB Financial Swift Fox Conservation Program, undertaken by the Calgary Zoo and its partners. Thanks to their hard work, this important species was re-established in Alberta after decades of extinction.
The Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation in Coaldale is dedicated to rehabilitating and releasing injured birds of prey back into the wild, captive breeding and releasing of endangered species, and increasing public environmental awareness. ATB is proud to be a sponsor of this one-of-a-kind facility.
