The Tour of Alberta is the largest professional cycling race ever held in Canada and Alberta’s first foray into the global sport of cycling. The Tour of Alberta is a six-stage race that starts in Edmonton on Tuesday, September 3 and ends in Calgary on Sunday, September 8, with stage routes travelling through 20 rural Alberta communities.
2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans and 2012 Tour of Italy winner (and Canadian cycling star) Ryder Hesjedal headline the field. 15 professional cycling teams with more than 20 professional cyclists from Canada and abroad will participate in the Tour.
Each of the start and finish stage communities will host a festival featuring local food vendors, fun activities for kids, merchandise, bike demonstrations, culinary displays, and the ATB Financial Autograph Alley.
At the Autograph Alley, cycling fans and festival goers will have the opportunity to meet the riders as they come down the course and interact with the crowd before doing their official sign in at the start of each stage. ATB associates will be handing out cycling collector’s cards at the festival so young cyclists and cycling fans can meet these stars and get their autographs.
The Tour of Alberta is one of many events we support across the province that promote healthy minds and bodies.
