Economics, sociology, calculus... budgeting? For first-year Lethbridge College students, money matters were part of the curriculum during orientation September 3-4—and ATB Financial was proud to lead the lessons and discussion.
"Registration was chaos!" says Rob Smith, ATB's South Market Vice President. "It's fun to see the intimidated looks on the faces of these new students, coming to study at this word-class institution."
Over 600 students attended the College's two-day orientation events, with 240 attending ATB's sessions on avoiding financial stress. One session, designed specifically for international students, was especially relevant.
"When [the international students] arrive, two of the first questions they have are 'Where do I bank?' and 'What is the process for signing up for an account?' That's where we come in," explains ATB team member Rob Bain.
Bain was among 14 ATB team members from the Lethbridge region who participated in the orientation, advising students on the financial options available to them.
"It's fun to see everyone at work," Smith adds. "College staff, students, and their families and ATB team members are totally engaged with each other. It's a great opportunity to work together with them to connect business, education, and people."
