There are plenty of places to find Calgarians in their natural habitat. Floating down the Bow River, biking through Fish Creek Park, driving on the Deerfoot, hunkered down in a movie theatre.
Did that last one catch you off guard? It turns out Calgary has the highest movie attendance per capita in all of Canada.
That might explain the growing popularity of the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF). Last year over 28,000 people attended and this year’s event is expected to be bigger and better. Running September 23 – October 4, the 2015 edition offers over 200 screenings at three Calgary theatres with films from Alberta, across Canada, and over 40 other countries.
ATB Financial is the new Presenting Partner of the Calgary International Film Festival. It’s a fit that makes sense to President and CEO Dave Mowat who is a sucker for a good story (and a good film).
“Banking is as much about relationships as it is about interest rates and mortgage calculators. If you don’t take the time to listen to someone’s story, how are you going to help them change their lives for the better? That spirit is a big part of why we’ve joined CIFF in bringing the world to Calgary and sharing Calgary with the world.”
Plus we like to get creative at ATB from time to time. We flexed our film muscle to create a couple of super short short films, inspired by our team members (and popcorn).
