About MasterCard SecureCode

> What is MasterCard SecureCode?

  • MasterCard SecureCode is a new service from MasterCard and ATB Financial that provides peace of mind when shopping online. It provides added protection against unauthorized use of your card.

> How does MasterCard SecureCode work and how will it protect me?

  • Once you have registered and created a SecureCode, each time you attempt to make an online purchase, a window will appear and prompt you for your SecureCode. When you correctly enter your SecureCode, ATB Financial confirms that you are the authorized cardholder and the transaction will be processed. If the SecureCode entered is not correct, the transaction will not process.

> Is MasterCard SecureCode easy to use?

  • Yes, MasterCard SecureCode is very easy to use. When you are attempting to make an online purchase, a window from ATB Financial will appear and prompt you for your SecureCode. After reviewing the details of your purchase and confirming that your predetermined ‘Personal Greeting’ is correct, simply enter your SecureCode to complete the transaction.

> Will I need to get a new card to use MasterCard SecureCode?

  • A new card is not required. You can continue to use your existing ATB Financial MasterCard.

> What are the system requirements for MasterCard SecureCode?

  • MasterCard SecureCode requires the use of Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 and above, Netscape Navigator 4.0 and above, or America Online 4.0 and above. Also, please be sure to disable any software that prevents pop-up windows, as this will interfere with your use of SecureCode.

> Can I use MasterCard SecureCode from any computer?

  • Because there's no special software to install, you can shop from any computer meeting the system requirements outlined above and always receive the added protection of MasterCard SecureCode.

> What happens if I cancel my existing card then get a new one with a different account number?

  • You will need to register the new card for MasterCard SecureCode. Simply return to the registration site, and complete the registration process detailed below, with your new card.

Registering for MasterCard SecureCode

> What cards can I register with MasterCard SecureCode?

  • You can register any ATB Financial MasterCard.

> Can two people with a joint account use the same password or should they register MasterCard SecureCode separately?

  • Each cardholder should register separately and create their own MasterCard SecureCode.

> Why do I have to supply personal information during registration?

  • The information you provide is checked against the information that ATB Financial has on file. This is done as a security precaution to be sure that the person registering is the authorized cardholder. For further security, we also ask for the Signature Panel Code Number to be sure you have physical possession of the card that is being enrolled.

> What is a Personal Greeting?

  • The Personal Greeting is a personal message that you create during registration. Once you've completed your registration, each time you make an online purchase, a small window will appear and ask you to enter your SecureCode. In this window, you'll see your Personal Greeting. The Personal Greeting is your assurance that you are communicating with, and submitting your SecureCode to, ATB Financial. If the Personal Greeting displayed in the pop-up window is incorrect, you should not enter your SecureCode. Please report any such incidents to ATB Financial MasterCard at 1-888-ATB-5678.

> What if I forget my SecureCode?

  • If you forget your SecureCode when making an online purchase, you will be supplied with your Secret Question. If you then answer correctly, the purchase will still complete. Once the purchase is completed, you should visit the registration site, click on the "Forgot SecureCode" link and follow the instructions.

> What do I do if I have questions during the registration process?

  • If you have questions, or need assistance during the registration process, please contact ATB Financial MasterCard at 1-888-ATB-5678.

Shopping with MasterCard SecureCode

> How does MasterCard SecureCode work?

  • Once you have registered and created a SecureCode, each time you attempt to make an online purchase, a window will appear and prompt you for your SecureCode. When you correctly enter your SecureCode, ATB Financial confirms that you are the authorized cardholder and the transaction will be processed. If the SecureCode entered is not correct, the transaction will not process.

> Where can I shop with MasterCard Secure Code?

  • More and more merchants are participating in the MasterCard SecureCode program every day. To view a list of participating merchants, click here.

> Can I start shopping with my SecureCode as soon as I register?

  • Yes. You can begin using your SecureCode immediately after completing your registration.

> What should I do if I purchase online but no SecureCode request window appears?

You should do the following:

    • Make sure you are using the correct card.
    • Make sure the merchant is participating.
    • Be sure you have disabled any pop-up suspending software on your system.
    • Contact ATB Financial MasterCard at 1-888-ATB-5678 after verifying the above items.

> Can I purchase at merchants that do not participate in the MasterCard SecureCode service?

  • Yes, but you will not be asked for your SecureCode at these merchants. To complete your purchase, simply follow the traditional checkout process.

> I forgot my password. What should I do?

  • Simply return to the registration site, click on the "Forgot your Password" link and follow the instructions.

Security and Privacy

> How does MasterCard SecureCode work and how will it protect me?

> Does the service use cookies?

  • No, the MasterCard SecureCode service does not use cookies that are stored on your desktop. Instead, the software uses "session cookies" which are temporarily stored on your desktop and immediately (and automatically) deleted when you go offline.

How to Cancel MasterCard SecureCode

> How can I cancel my SecureCode enrollment?

  • To cancel your SecureCode registration, click first on "Account Management" and then on "Cancel Enrollment"

> Can I re-enroll later?

  • Yes, simply complete the registration process again and your SecureCode account will be re-activated. However, the new SecureCode you create must be different from your original SecureCode.
