Every year for the past five years, Ponoka experiences a boom in its prison population for one day in June. But don't worry—it's all for a good cause.

On Wednesday, June 26, The ATB Financial Outlaw RoundUp was held on Chipman Avenue in downtown Ponoka. Each year, the ATB branch in Ponoka selects a different local charity to support with the proceeds of the fundraiser. This year it was Ponoka KidSport.

The branch works with the RCMP to "arrest" local business people. They go before a judge and are convicted of a "crime". This year, ATB market manager Marvin Beier's crime was that he eats too much candy.

The criminals are put into a makeshift jail at the community breakfast until they can raise a predetermined amount of money. With this year's event, ATB Ponoka raised over $90,000 for local charities.
