Calgary - The ATB Financial Classic presented by TELUS has been officially added to the new PGA TOUR Canada’s roster of events. PGA TOUR Canada President Jeff Monday made the announcement Wednesday at Country Hills Golf Club, which will be the host site of the 2013 event to be held June 17-23 on the Talons course.

“We are thrilled to continue the partnership with ATB Financial and TELUS to bring professional golf to Calgary,” said Monday. “We are confident that having this tournament on the PGA TOUR Canada schedule will create a bigger impact in the Calgary community and be a marquee event on the Tour.”

PGA TOUR Canada intends to have the ATB Financial Classic presented by TELUS become a permanent PGA TOUR Canada stop in Calgary starting in 2014, rotating among prominent golf courses in the Calgary area.

Also announced on Wednesday was the 2013 tournament charity, Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta.

“ATB Financial and TELUS are pleased to partner to raise funds for this wonderful organization,” said John Windwick, Vice-President, Community Initiatives with ATB Financial. “Habitat Southern Alberta helps low-income families build and buy decent, affordable homes. They not only help provide safe, affordable housing for families in need, but also help break the cycle of poverty in the community.”

Mark Giordano of the Calgary Flames and his wife Lauren have been named Honorary Tournament Chairs for their ongoing support of Habitat for Humanity.
