Supporting community clean-ups

This is one time getting "trashy" is actually a good thing... ATB has a reputation for rolling up our sleeves and pitching in, and that includes community clean-ups.

This summer, our Edmonton branches are taking part in the city’s Capital City Clean-Up business outreach program. Organizations are matched with not-for-profit groups to clean the area outside their business each week from May to August. At the end of the program, each organization donates money to the groups in recognition of their efforts.

“At ATB, associates from each branch are volunteering alongside the not-for-profits as well,” says Sandra Huculak, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility. “We have amazing people who take pride in going the extra mile.”

A great example of this in the south is our clean-up effort with the Birds of Prey nature centre in Coaldale each fall. ATB supports the Birds of Prey Foundation through a sponsorship, and associates volunteer their time to help rake leaves and clean up. ATB’s Falher and McLennan branches in the north also pitched in to help with community clean-ups in the towns of Donnelly and McLennan this year. We plan to take part in even more community clean-ups next year.

“We see this not only as part of our role in the community, but one more step towards becoming a green organization,” Huculak says.
