Markets crawl as the US celebrates Thanksgiving

Posted on: November 25, 2016

With the US celebrating Thanksgiving yesterday, the markets that were open were confined to very tight ranges for the most part as liquidity was at a premium. USDCAD churned around in a 20 point range for most of the session as those that were stuck in the office likely had their eyes glued to the football games or the parade.

Overnight Italian Retail Sales saw a large miss while UK Q3 GDP came in right around expectations. The USD weakened a bit, as now all eyes will shift to the OPEC decision next week. USDCAD hit a low of 1.3454 overnight before USD buyers stepped back in. This morning as our American friends try and work off their food comas, US Wholesale Inventories came in lower than expected.

Have a good weekend!

  • Yesterday’s NA Range 1.3483 – 1.3506
  • Asia Overnight Range 1.3454 – 1.3515
  • London Overnight Range 1.3463– 1.3498
