Natural gas gains 2.5 cents

Posted on: February 24, 2017

NYMEX natural gas traded in a range of $0.135 on Thursday and settled at $2.617/MMBtu, gaining 2.5 cents. The EIA has reported a draw of 89-Bcf, higher than expectations. Working gas stocks now total 2,356, which 261-Bcf less than this time last year and 156-Bcf more than the 5 year average. Pricing movements were further supported by cooler trends in the forecast.

We expect to see heightened volatility as the contract expiry approaches.
