Notes & definitions Video summary

Note:

  • As a subscriber to the ATB EFT service, you can electronically transfer money from your business account to other ATB accounts or to any other bank account in Canada. All files submitted to ATB Financial by noon will process for value the next business day. If some items are designated as value for today, the recipient bank may make the posting, although they are not obligated to. For this reason ATB strongly recommends that all files you wish processed be submitted to ATB two business days PRIOR to the due date.

Enhanced EFT workflow and an upgraded EFT Editor application are some of the improved and expanded features within ATBOnline Business.

System Administrators and setting up entitlements

If you have more than one person accessing your company's online banking, your designated System Administrator will need to grant your preferred users access to the EFT service through the entitlements and user set-up feature.

Your System Administrator simply clicks on the Administration tab and then under Manage Roles they can create a role that has EFT access. The System Administrator would then proceed to Manage Users, where they could assign this role to the company users requiring access to our EFT service. To learn more about this process, please watch our Setting Up Entitlements, Roles and Users video.

Creating EFT payments

Once your company's System Administrator has set up your users, these users can now access our new EFT capabilities. Click on the EFT tab to get to the Create EFT Payments screen. This is your starting point to creating an EFT file manually, from a template, or by importing a new EFT file.

If you've already downloaded the updated EFT File Editor, or are using your own software, proceed to Import a New EFT File. Here you can also save the file as a template for future use.

The Prepared Files tab is where you can release these files into your workflow approval process, edit, or view the details. All files submitted to ATB Financial by noon will process for value the next business day. If some items are designated as value for today, the recipient bank may make the posting, although they are not obligated to. For this reason ATB strongly recommends that all files you wish processed be submitted to ATB two business days PRIOR to the due date.

The Pending Files Summary section is where you can find your EFT files waiting to be received by ATB, or files that require additional approval based on your workflow approval process.

The EFT History screen is very important in the workflow process because it's where you ensure that your file was processed successfully, or find out if it was returned for any reason. If a file is returned, you will see a status update identifying the reason. Please consult your User Guide or company System Administrator for your next steps. The EFT History screen is also where you can reverse or recall any eligible files and/or individual items.

The EFT Returns/ Notice of Change Summary page is where you can review any returned items, as well as re-present items for processing without having to create a new file.

The Uploaded Files screen lets you see all your imported EFT files and review the detailed information on files imported into the system by your users.

The Manage Receivers page lets you manage receivers that you have manually entered, or saved from previously imported files, for use in future EFT files.

The Maintain Templates page is where you would go to view or edit files previously saved as templates, or to create a new template for future use.

Highlights of our EFT service

ATB is excited to bring you this expanded EFT capability. Some of the key differences in the new system include:

  • New user entitlements with the EFT system
  • A new Liquidity Balance replaces today's EFT Tape Limits

Liquidity Balance replaces the previously used tape limit. Please check with your Relationship Manager to review how your Liquidity Balance is calculated. ATB will no longer have the ability to intervene in the process if you exceed your liquidity balance limit.

  • An EFT File Editor. Please note that the previous Editor is not compatible with our upgraded online banking system.

If you have any questions, please contact your Relationship Manager directly.
