How does it work?

It's easy.

All you need is the recipient's name and email address. That's it. No exchanging of bank account numbers or other sensitive information is required.

It's fast.

Once you hit send, Interac will verify the transaction (usually within minutes, but sometimes up to one hour). The recipient will then get an email letting them know an Interac e-Transfer is waiting to be deposited.

If you're receiving an e-Transfer , then you'll get the email saying an e-Transfer is waiting to be collected. Simply collect the money through ATB Online Business, and the funds will be deposited immediately.

The transfer takes place with the same high level of security and safety as every ATB Online Business banking transaction.

Which accounts are eligible to use the Interac e-Transfer service?

All Canadian Dollar business deposit accounts have access to the service.

Who can I send money to?

You can send an Interac e-Transfer to anyone with a valid email address or mobile phone number, with an account at a participating Canadian financial institution.

What information do I need to send an Interac e-Transfers?

You only need two things:

  • The recipient’s name
  • The recipient’s email address or mobile number

Will I be able to see the Interac e-Transfers on my account statement?

Yes, your Interac e-Transfers will be identified on your printed statement, your e-statement, and in ATB Online Business.

Can I complete an Interac e-Transfer through ATB Business Mobile?

What happens if I don’t deposit the funds in the necessary time frame?

You will receive a Recipient Expiry Notice email telling you that the funds are no longer available for you to deposit. The sender will also receive a notice that the transfer has expired.

Can an Interac e-Transfer for Business be recalled if the funds have already been deposited into the recipient’s account?

No, an e-Transfers for Business transaction cannot be reversed after the recipient has deposited the funds.

If I send an Interac e-Transfer but cancel it before it is accepted by the recipient, am I still charged?

Yes, a fee is charged as soon as the transfer has been sent.

Can I send or receive funds in different currencies?

No; only Canadian funds can be transferred.

Can I send and receive Interac e-Transfers when I'm abroad?

Yes, as long as you have internet access, can access your email account, and ATB Online Business you can still send and receive e-Transfers.

Is Interac e-Transfer available in multiple languages?

Interac e-Transfers are only available in English and French. When creating a Recipient, if you select French as the preferred language, the recipient will receive their notification and question and answer in French.

How do I know if I am able to send e-Transfers?

Once you go into your Interac e-Transfer tab, you should see “Recipients | Send | History | Profile” under the tab. If you only see “History | Profile”, send services has not been activated yet. For Business & Agriculture clients, please fill out this form and email it to atbbusiness@atb.com for Send services to be activated. For Corporate Financial Services clients, please contact your Relationship Manager or our Cash Management Support Team at 1-877-363-4855.

How much does it cost to send or receive an Interac e-Transfer?

The cost to receive an Interac e-Transfer may be included in your account fee. Sending an Interac e-Transfer costs $1.50 per payment. If you’re an ATB small business customer please review your account package for more details.
