Teddy for a Toonie is an annual province-wide fundraising campaign that supports the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary and the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. Since launching in 2000, ATB Financial customers and associates have raised more than $5 million through Teddy for a Toonie. Those millions have helped our children's hospitals develop innovative rehabilitation programs and acquire state-of-the-art equipment that saves young lives every day.

This year, our goal is to raise $800,000 through donations and fundraisers during the month of May. Those funds will support the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at the Alberta Children's Hospital, as well as Critical Care Unit Expansion at the Stollery.

About the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team About the Critical Care Unit Expansion

Timing is everything—especially when it comes to the care of critically ill or injured children. Fast access to specialized medical care and the ability to rapidly identify and respond to changes in a child's condition can greatly impact a child's outcome.

The Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team is the "rapid response" team—experts in critical care who can attend to children outside of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit who are showing early signs of deterioration.

The Stollery's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provide critical care services to children across western Canada—children who require cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, burn treatment, trauma treatment, and organ transplants.

With the region's rapid population growth, demand for critical care beds exceeds existing capacity. A new unit with expanded capabilities will help the hospital accommodate more kids, which means kids can go home sooner.

Thanks to projects like these, Alberta's kids and their families can continue to benefit from some from the best medical care in Canada.

Nearly all Albertans know a family that has benefited from the world-class care provided by our children's hospitals. While families in other provinces have to travel large distances to receive the specialized services these hospitals provide, Albertans are fortunate to have these facilities right in our own backyard.

When you donate, you are ensuring Alberta's children continue to have access to these specialized services so close to home.
