The ATB Financial Young Artists Competition was launched in 2011 and has been an amazing success. The competition is geared towards Grade Four students, because in Grade Four they’re already learning about Alberta history. The theme of the competition is Alberta Stories. Each student who participated in the competition told an Alberta story through art. We assembled an external organizing committee, made up of ATB and Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) employees as well as a teacher that took on the task of developing and promoting the competition. The art competition was an excellent way to connect our people and our customers.

The response to the competition over the past two years has been overwhelming, as countless drawings, paintings, and collages were submitted to ATB branches across Alberta. Each branch selected their own finalists which were forwarded to one of our regional offices. Each regional office then sent their finalists to our head office, where our organizing committee and guest judges selected the final winners. The winning masterpieces were professionally framed and featured in exhibitions at the AGA, sharing the walls with some of the most famous art from around the world.
