Walking the walk

If you’ve walked down Stephen Avenue in downtown Calgary recently, you may have noticed a ‘rainbow brick road’ has appeared in front of the ATB Financial building. We call it the Pride Walk.

We’ve created the Pride Walk to celebrate our new presenting partnership with Calgary Pride. We’ll also be lighting up our head office in Pride colours in Edmonton.

At ATB, we believe Pride is about love, faith, and self-worth. It's about acceptance. It's the smiles and cheers along the parade route responding to the dancers on a float. And the energy, colour, and spirit at the festival.

We’ve been celebrating Pride all over the province in support of the LGBTQ community, with World Pride Month in June, and local Pride festivals throughout the spring and summer. We want to celebrate our diversity, and show that we take Pride in all Albertans.

ATB is a long-time partner of Camp fYrefly and fYrefly in Schools, which support sexual and gender minority (LGBTQ) youth. And this year, we provided support for Pride festivals in Jasper, Edmonton, Cold Lake, and of course Calgary. At Jasper Pride, we launched Canada’s first Pride MasterCard. We even tied in our western roots at the Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo in Strathmore.

Watch for us at the Calgary Pride Parade and Festival on Sunday, September 6. And feel free to drop by our branch on Stephen Avenue to take a stroll down the Pride Walk, which will be in living colour until September 12.
