ATB Man Van visit nothing to fear

ATB Financial’s President & CEO, Curtis Stange stopped in to visit the Sylvan Lake branch as they hosted the ATB Man Van today. Afterall, health is something that is deeply important to him.

“When I think of my health, I look at the whole picture—physically, mentally, spiritually. We need to take care of each other and ourselves and I applaud non-profit organizations like the Prostate Cancer Centre for finding a creative way to do exactly that,” said Stange.

For five years running, ATB has been bringing the mobile clinics to rural Alberta with branches and agencies serving as proud hosts.

“We know that one in seven Alberta men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime. As a father of two young men and a grandson, that is very impactful to me. Without many early warning signs, early detection is key,” said Stange.

Since 2015, The ATB Man Van clinics have tested more than 1,800 men through a simple blood test. Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) tests help with the early detection of prostate cancer. PSA is a protein produced by the prostate and released in small amounts to the bloodstream. The amount of PSA in the bloodstream can often predict a man's risk of prostate cancer.

Having been to the ATB Man Van four times, Stange wants other men to know just how simple the PSA test is.

“It’s way easier than I thought. The team is very professional, helpful and knowledgeable. It takes 10 minutes. That’s it. Time well spent when it comes to your health and wellness,” said Stange.
