Todd Hirsch is the Chief Economist at ATB Financial. At ATB, Todd spends the bulk of his time sharing the story of Alberta’s economy in clear-eyed and energetic talks across the province and the rest of the country. A highly sought-after speaker, Todd presents at hundreds of events a year.
Todd regularly provides economic commentary for CBC, CTV, BNN and other local and national news outlets. He also writes a regular column in The Globe and Mail.
In February 2012, Todd released his first book with co-author and colleague Rob Roach titled, The Boiling Frog Dilemma: Saving Canada from Economic Decline.
Before joining ATB, Todd spent 20 years as an economist at a number of different organizations including Canadian Pacific Railway, the Canada West Foundation, and the Bank of Canada. For almost a decade, Todd taught economics at the University of Calgary. Before becoming an economist, Todd delivered the Edmonton Journal to the doorsteps of hundreds, worked as a restaurant server at Earl’s and was the self-anointed Slurpee King at a 7-Eleven on Edmonton’s Argyll Road.
Todd is a born-and-raised Albertan, and holds a BA Honours in Economics from the University of Alberta and an MA in Economics from the University of Calgary.

As a Director of Insight with ATB Financial’s Economics and Research team, Rob examines the economic and social forces that affect Albertans’ quality of life. He communicates his thoughts and findings in an effort to share ways in which we can all make Alberta an even better place to live.
Rob is also the co-author with Todd Hirsch of The Boiling Frog Dilemma: Saving Canada from Economic Decline. Before joining ATB, Rob was Vice President of Research at the Canada West Foundation where he spent almost 20 years analyzing and commenting on a broad array of economic, social and public policy issues. Rob has served as Treasurer and President of the Economics Society of Calgary and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Calgary Arts Academy, an Instructor for the University of Alberta's National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration and a Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies. Rob has also kneaded loaves of bread as a baker, warmed tummies as a soup chef, cleaned cutlery as a dishwasher, been hung-up on as a telephone surveyor and made students happy (or sad) as a marking assistant.
Rob grew up in Calgary and holds a BA and MA in Political Science from the University of Calgary.

Nick Ford is an Economist at ATB Financial. Nick joined ATB’s Economics and Research team in February 2014 where he researches, tracks and reports on economic indicators and trends that impact Albertans. Before joining the team, Nick worked as a compliance analyst at ATB and as a customer service representative at the Royal Bank of Canada. Other jobs Nick has had include serving up fries and burgers as a line cook and fitting cleats as a salesperson at a soccer (or as his Liverpudlian dad calls it: football) store in Edmonton.
Nick is a native Edmontonian and holds a BA in Economics from the University of Alberta.
