ATBnB looks to grow Alberta’s economy

Posted on:   | Author:

After a two-week hiatus for some retooling, The Owl returns today and will once again be appearing on a daily basis—with weekends off, of course! Now, on with the news:

New research out of the International Centre for Research on the Economic Impact of Overnight Lodging Options for Travelers (ICREIOLOT) shows Alberta is poised to become a leader in the innovative accommodations sector.

ICREIOLOT‘s 2019 forecast has Alberta adding more than 500,000 new bed and breakfast spaces for travelers by 2021.

This may be a case of "hooting" our own horn, but ATB Financial deserves all the credit here because today we launch our new overnight lodging service called ATBnB.

ATBnB will enable thousands of Albertans and out-of-province visitors to spend the night in a luxurious ATB Branch. With more than 300 locations, ATBnB will become a mainstay in the hospitality sector almost overnight.

Kurt Stangerson, President and CEO of ICREIOLOT, had an opportunity to test our new service and had this to say about the branch accommodations:

“Never in my life have I had such a restful and rejuvenating night of sleep in a bank! I even got to sleep in the vault and withdraw some cash from the ABM while still in my pajamas.”

The boost to the province’s GDP—from banks, law firms, restaurants, barber shops and many other businesses we foresee taking ATB’s lead and offering travellers overnight accommodations—is expected to be close to seven per cent by 2025.

If you are interested in booking a stay, visit ATBnB.ca. We’re making banking work for people, even when they’re asleep!

Happy April Fools’ Day!
