Natural gas up 6.6 cents

Posted on: January 20, 2017

NYMEX natural gas traded in a range of $0.147 on Thursday and closed the day off at $3.368/MMBtu, gaining 6.6 cents. Initially trading down in anticipation of the storage figure, the prompt month was quickly boosted to the $3.404 high of the after the EIA showed a draw of 243-Bcf. Slightly bullish as the figure was roughly 8-Bcf higher than expectations.

Natural gas was unable to hold much of the gain throughout the afternoon as the recent warm weather casts some doubt on demand.
