Natural gas gains 3 cents

Posted on: August 29, 2017

NG prompt futures gained 3 cents to settle at $2.93 amid the touchdown of Hurricane Harvey into Houston over the weekend. Supply disruptions are concentrated in the Eagle Ford Shale Basin, however, any power outages and closures of business would also decrease demand; the net effect would be extremely difficult to predict, especially so in the case of many natural disasters.

It is important to step away from the perspective of an analyst and realize that these are people's lives and homes, not just a supply or demand figure impacting prices. We hope that everyone in Houston stays safe during this difficult time.
