FAQs

What ATB cards can I use with Samsung pay?

For Samsung phones, your ATB Mastercard and debit card (personal and/or business) are eligible. For Samsung Gear, only your ATB Mastercard (personal and/or business) is eligible.

I’m having trouble scanning my card. Any tips?

ATB debit cards must be entered manually. Currently if you try to scan an ATB debit card it will either not scan or will scan and return a card number error where the last digit of the card was not entered.

What account will my Samsung Pay Interac Debit transactions be charged to?

They’ll be charged to whatever account is charged when you tap your debit card. If you’re not sure what account this is or want to change the account, call us at 1-888-282-5678.

What should I do if my device is lost or stolen?

That's unfortunate (and distressing), but not to worry—your information is safe because payment information is not accessible without your fingerprint or Samsung Pay PIN. You have a few options for what to do next:
  • Samsung Find My Mobile can help you remotely locate and lock and erase (if required) your device
  • Call ATB (between 7am–11pm) to have your ATB card(s) removed from Samsung Pay. This way, your card (and any pre-authorized payments you had set up on that card) will remain active, but it will no longer be linked to that Samsung device.
    • Samsung Pay for Interac Debit: 1-800-332-8383
    • Samsung Pay for all ATB Mastercards: 1-888-282-5678

How does Samsung Pay keep my information private?

Lots of ways.
  • Your card numbers are never stored on your device or with Samsung.
  • Samsung Pay uses a virtual account number to represent your account information, so your card details stay safe and secure.
  • When you pay in apps, the merchant will only receive information like your name, email address and billing/shipping address.
  • Samsung Pay retains anonymous transaction information, like the approximate purchase amount.

Is Samsung Pay secure?

Yes. With Samsung Pay, card details are never shared. In fact, they aren't stored on the device at all. Samsung Pay protects your personal information, transaction data, and card information with industry-leading security. Plus when you use Samsung Pay you’re covered with the same fraud protection ATB provides for credit and debit card purchases. For added security, the Samsung "Find My Mobile" service can remotely lock or delete your payment cards on Samsung Pay.

What’s required to use Samsung Pay?

A compatible Samsung device with the original software and a registered fingerprint or Samsung Pay PIN. If your device doesn't have the Samsung Pay app, download it from the Samsung Galaxy Apps store or Google Play.

Compatible devices: Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Active, Galaxy A5, Galaxy Note5, Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Frontier, Gear Sport or later Gear models like Galaxy Watch.
  • Samsung Pay is not supported on rooted or custom operating systems installed on the device.
  • For verification purposes, you must be located in the same country of the participating bank when adding a payment card in Samsung Pay.
  • Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier are the only Samsung Gear devices that let you use your Mastercard at non-tap terminals.

Do I need Samsung device to use Samsung Pay on Gear?

No, as long as the Galaxy Wearable app can be synced to the eligible Gear device, and the phone is running with Android operating system 6.0 or newer.
