For some clients, an assigned name may not match their true identity. We believe it's important to give everyone the ability to be respected for who they are. Features like True Name exist for that reason.

At present, True Name is an available feature for all ATB Financial personal Mastercard credit cards. We do not currently offer True Name for other ATB products, but we are actively exploring how to best incorporate this feature across other banking products and services in the future.

Yes. If you'd prefer not to have your True Name card mailed to your home address, we offer the option of collecting it in-branch.

True Name exists to allow you to feature a name that you may use with family, friends, your community, or co-workers. We aim to accommodate the name that matches your identity, but there are some specific requirements. For your True Name, we ask that you only use alpha characters with no numbers or special characters in that name (apostrophes and hyphens are allowed). We also strongly encourage not using humorous, fictitious or profane names.

While signatures are becoming a less frequent part of credit card transactions, you may be asked to sign for a purchase. In those cases, please use the name featured on the front of your card.

Due to system limitations at this time, True Name is not available on statements or when you log in to ATB Personal online banking. We are actively working to correct this in the future.

You can use either the True Name on your credit card or your assigned name. Please note that for shipping purchases, some retailers may require a legal name for shipping reasons.

The introduction of True Name will not impact ATB's commitment or capability to keep your confidential information secure. It's the same high standard of security and identity verification you've come to expect from ATB.

No. Using the True Name feature does not impact our reporting to the credit bureau. Reporting to the credit bureau will be in your assigned name.
