The Alberta economy shed 15,100 jobs in November for a seasonally-adjusted drop of 0.6% compared to October.

Full-time positions fell by 0.5% (-10,000) while part-time jobs pulled back by 1.1% (-5,100).

As a result, the provincial unemployment rate jumped from 5.2% to 5.8%.

Nationally, the number of jobs edged up slightly in November, growing by 0.1% (+10,100) with gains in full-time employment (+0.3%), but losses in part-time work (-1.1%).

The national unemployment rate also improved slightly, going from 5.2% to 5.1%.

Employment was down in 7 out of 10 provinces, with Quebec posting the largest increase at +0.6%.
