The seasonally-adjusted value of shipments from Alberta’s factories barely budged in September with sales down by 0.2%.

Manufactured food products posted the largest absolute decrease in month-over-month sales at -$60.1 million (-3.0%), but this was coming off a record-setting August.

Despite the modest monthly slippage, year-over-sales in the province were up by $1.9 billion (+26.7%).

Nationally, month-over-month sales were unchanged with sales down in all but two provinces (Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador).

Year-over-year sales in Canada were up by 18.5%.

In constant dollar terms (which are not available from Statistics Canada at the provincial level), national factory sales decreased just slightly in September compared to August (-0.2%) while year-over-year sales were up by a solid 8.2%.
