Unemployment rate in Alberta edges up in November
There were 276,700 Albertans actively looking for work but unable to find it in November

According to the latest Labour Force Survey results, Alberta’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly, going from 10.7 per cent in October to 11.1 per cent in November.
The survey reflects labour market conditions during the week of November 8 to 14 before new public health restrictions were introduced in Alberta at the end of the month.
There were 276,700 Albertans actively looking for work but unable to find it in November.
Almost 11,000 jobs were lost in November (-0.5 per cent), with employment in the province down by 122,500 compared to a year ago (-5.2 per cent). Full-time positions fell by 1.6 per cent (29,400) while part-time employment increased by 4.4 per cent (18,600).
Nationally, the unemployment rate improved slightly, going from 8.9 per cent in October to 8.5 in November. A total of 62,100 jobs were added (+0.3 per cent).
On a year-over-basis, there were 481,700 fewer jobs in Canada (-2.5 per cent) than in November 2019.
