Nope. Brightside is by ATB Financial, but you do not need to have an ATB account to use the Brightside app.
So glad you asked! Brightside is a completely separate banking experience and app, from ATB. Even if you already have an account with ATB you will need to sign up for Brightside.
Yes. Brightside is totally free to sign up for and use. There are no fees, so your money is all yours to spend and save.
Yes. Brightside is part of ATB Financial, operating under the same license and regulations. All funds deposited at Brightside are covered by ATB’s Deposit Guarantee through the Government of Alberta.
