How to set up Direct Deposit with an ATB Account

What Information You’ll Need to Set Up Direct Deposit:
To set up your deposit, you will need to provide the following ATB account details:
- Transit Number (5 digits-identifies your home branch)
- Institution number (219 - for all ATB accounts)
- Account Number (Up to 11 digits)
How to Set Up Direct Deposit
- Get Your Details: Find your Transit, Institution, and Account numbers either by accessing ATB Personal or looking at a void cheque. Follow the instructions below to find your account info on ATB Personal web or the mobile app.
- Submit Information: Provide these numbers to your employer or payer as outlined by their process.
- Confirm: Check your balance on your next payday to ensure the first automated deposit arrived successfully.
How to Find Your ATB Account Details
You can find your Transit, Institution, and Account numbers through ATB Personal (web or app) or a physical cheque:
- Option 1: Use the Digital "Direct Deposit/Debit" Page. On ATB Personal, select the chequing or savings account where you would like your funds deposited. You can manually copy your account numbers onto a blank form or—for a faster option—download a pre-populated form with your name, address, and account info already included. Follow our step-by-step instructions below to find these details with the ATB Personal app or web experience.
- Log in to your ATB Personal app.
- From the Overview screen, tap a desired account.
- From the account summary screen, tap the Manage account link.
- From the Manage account screen, tap View direct deposit/debit details.
- Download the pre-populated form or copy your account details into this direct deposit form.
- Log in to ATB Personal.
- From the Overview screen, click More in the primary navigation.
Or you can click the three dots to the right of the quick links on any deposit account details screen and click Deposit/Debit form to automatically download a copy of the form that pre-populates that account's details. - From the More menu, click Account services.
- On the Account services screen, in the Direct deposit/debit form tab, select the account that you want to download a pre-populated form for. You can also download a blank version of the form if you’d like.
- Click View and print form.
- The form will download and may open automatically.
- When you’re ready you can either sign and date the form electronically, or fill it out by hand on a printed copy.
- You’re all done!
- Log in to your ATB Personal app.
- From the Overview screen, tap More in the primary navigation.
- From the More menu, tap CRA direct deposit.
- From the CRA direct deposit screen, tap Get started. You may be directed to call ATB if your personal profile information needs to be updated.
- On the next screen, select the account you want your CRA payments to be Deposit(ed) to.
- Enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- Tap Next.
- Review and verify all the information you entered to make sure it’s accurate.
- Tap the checkbox to confirm your consent to provide your information to the CRA.
- Tap Submit, which will bring you to a confirmation screen.
- You’re all done!
- Log in to ATB Personal.
- From the Overview screen, click More in the primary navigation
- From the More menu, click Account services.
- On the Account services screen, click CRA direct deposit.
- On the CRA direct deposit screen, click Get started. You may be directed to call ATB if your personal profile information needs to be updated.
- On the next screen, select the account you want your CRA payments deposited into.
- Enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- Click Next.
- Review and verify all the information you entered to make sure it’s accurate.
- Click the checkbox to confirm your consent to provide your information to the CRA.
- Click Submit, which will bring you to a confirmation screen.
- You’re all done!
- Option 2: Use a physical cheque. If you have a chequebook, your numbers are printed along the bottom. You can copy these onto a blank direct deposit form.
