2FA (Two-factor Authentication)

2FA (Two-factor Authentication) is an added security layer to ensure your business accounts are kept safe.

During login, a 6-digit code is sent via text message or email to verify the user’s identity and prevent fraudulent access to your accounts.

ATB is committed to protecting our business clients. We introduced 2FA as a safety measure to ensure your business accounts are not vulnerable to fraud.

You can choose to receive verification codes by text message or by email.

These methods are equally secure, though text messaging is a bit faster.

All users are prompted to enroll in 2FA when their account is created with the use of either SMS or email. Business Administrators cannot opt employees out of 2FA.

For security reasons, ATB strongly discourages sharing user credentials.

Your company administrator can add additional users free of charge using Business online. Online Business (Classic web experience).

  1. In ATB Online Business, select Admin from the top menu
If you do not see Admin, it means you do not have administrator privileges.
  2. Select Roles & Users
  3. Select the Users tab
  4. Select the user name
  5. Select ‘Deauthorize email address’ or ‘Deauthorize mobile device’.

Prevent Wire Fraud

Ensure that all staff involved in sending money electronically become proficient at identifying these behaviours. Learn more.

In particular, take advantage of custom permissions, approval processes and limits. Learn more.

Your plan should include the following (Learn more):

  • Rules and regulations on how to protect your sensitive business information, computers and networks from cyber attacks.
  • Thorough employee training on security principles and how to identify red flags for fraud.
  • The creation and distribution of an easily accessible contact list so your employees can get a hold of the right person, at the right time.
  • A yearly mandatory fraud training program to equip your employees with the knowledge and confidence of detecting and mitigating fraud.
  • As part of your fraud training, you should establish steps on how to respond to a cyber security issue. Customize these steps and action items based on each individual’s role in the organization to ensure the right processes are being implemented at the right time, by the right people.

Remember, wire transfers can’t be cancelled once sent, so if you or your staff have any concerns or questions, contact ATB Client Care at 1-800-332-8383 before proceeding.
