How to send money within Canada with INTERAC e-Transfer® in your ATB Mobile app

Learn how to add recipients and send money quickly and securely by INTERAC e-Transfer in ATB Mobile to a person or business in Canada.

  1. Log in to your ATB Mobile app
  2. You must create your profile to use Interac e-transfer
    1. If you have already registered, skip to step 4
  3. If you need to register:
    1. From the Accounts screen, tap the gear icon in the upper left to access the Settings menu
    2. Tap Interac e-Transfer Profile
    3. Enter your Name and Email Address (twice)
    4. Tap Save
  4. From the Accounts screen, tap the + (plus sign) icon and then tap Make an Interac e-Transfer
  5. On the Send Money screen, from the Choose recipient... drop-down menu, select the person you wish to Send money to
    1. Skip to step 7
  6. If you need to add a recipient: 
    1. Tap the Create New Recipient link; alternatively, tap Interac e-Transfer Recipient Management in the Settings menu found by tapping the gear icon in the upper left of the Accounts screen
    2. On the Add Recipient screen, enter the intended Recipient Name and Recipient Email Address (Confirm)
    3. Enter a Security Question - Your recipient will need to answer this in order to accept funds by Interac e-Transfer. Helpful hint: create an effective question no more than 40 characters long that cannot be guessed, and that only you and the recipient can answer correctly. Do not communicate the answer to your recipient by text message, chat or email.
    4. Enter the Security Answer (single word, maximum 40 characters) and confirm by entering it a second time
    5. Tap Add and then tap OK on the confirmation modal
    6. If you’ve enrolled in enhanced security, you may be challenged to
      verify your identity
  7. From the Choose account... drop-down menu, select the From Account from which you wish to send money
  8. Enter the Amount of money you wish to send; currently there is a daily maximum of $5,000 that can be sent through Interac e-Transfer
  9. If you wish, enter a Message (400 characters max, letters, numbers and spaces only) for the recipient; this message should not include the security answer
  10. You’ll be shown the profile information your recipient will see; you can edit this information if desired by tapping the appropriate link to the right
  11. Tap Next
  12. Review all information for accuracy and tap Continue to complete the transfer
