Brett is the President of ATB Investment Management Inc. and Chief Operating Officer of ATB Wealth. He provides strategic leadership to the asset management subsidiary—including its portfolio management and investment fund management areas—as well as oversight across the operations, risk and compliance teams for ATB Wealth.
With 25 years in the financial services industry, Brett has served as a regulator with the Alberta Securities Commission and as a senior consultant with PwC with experience in both the consulting and deals practices. Prior to joining ATB Wealth in 2015, he provided executive leadership to the compliance, internal control and enterprise risk management areas at Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo).
Brett is active in the regulatory community in Canada. He sits on the Alberta Securities Commission’s Market Advisory Committee, is the Chair of the IIROC Alberta District Council and a member of the IIROC National Advisory Committee.
Passionate about the CFA charter and the mission of the CFA Institute and its member societies, Brett has been an active volunteer in the past, including serving several years on the board of CFA Society Edmonton with two years as president. He was also a member of the Canadian Advocacy Council to Canadian CFA Societies for a number of years.
Brett holds a BA in Political Science and an MBA in Finance from the University of Alberta. In addition to being a CFA charterholder, he has a certified Financial Risk Manager designation, graduated from the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program, and obtained the Institute of Corporate Directors ICD.D designation.
Brett lives in the Edmonton area with his wife, three now-adult children and a small menagerie of animals.
