Anyone 19 years old or younger who can write or print their name. A parent or guardian must be a joint account holder for kids under 12.
Generation Account holders are not automatically moved out of this account on their 20th birthday. Instead, we'll send a letter after their 20th birthday suggesting an adult account based on their last 3 months' transaction history. 20-year-old Generation Account holders will be automatically switched into this suggested account if we do not hear back.

Yes. The Generation Account includes unlimited free access to ATB Personal and the ATB Personal banking app, as well as unlimited telephone banking inquiries.
Yes. Within Alberta, you pay regular fees at non-ATB ABMs. You should be notified of these fees and prompted to approve them before proceeding with the transaction.
If you need to grab cash at a non-ATB ABM within Canada, you pay only $1.50 per withdrawal (this does not include fees you may agree to pay when making the withdrawal at the non-ATB ABM).
Travelling outside of Canada? Withdraw cash at any ABM in the Cirrus® ATM network for a fee of $5 per transaction (this does not include fees you may agree to pay when making the withdrawal at the non-ATB ABM).3

Interest is calculated on the daily account closing balance and paid monthly on the last day of the month. Interest is paid in the same currency as the account. Interest rates are calculated on a per annum basis. Interest rates and balance tiers are subject to change at any time without advance notice.
ABM withdrawals are converted to Canadian dollars using an exchange rate 2.5% above the exchange rate set by Mastercard International Incorporated (which operates the Cirrus® ATM Network). Some transactions may take a few days to be processed. You’ll be charged the applicable exchange rate on the day your transaction goes through your account, not necessarily the rate on the day you made the transaction.
