Generation Account™

The account is best for young Albertans between the ages of 13 and 25. If you are 13 and over you can have an account in your name only or joint with a parent, guardian or grandparent. For individual accounts in young Albertan's name only, the account holder must provide valid identification at account opening. For kids between 9 and 12, a parent guardian, or grandparent must be a joint account holder and present valid identification.

We'll send a letter before your 26th birthday suggesting a chequing account based on your last 3 months' transaction history. Generation Account holders will be automatically switched into this suggested account if we do not hear back.

Post-secondary students over 26 can get the monthly fee waived on our Unlimited Account. Visit the Unlimited Account page to learn how to provide your proof of enrollment.

If you would like to learn about other account options, you can always come into a branch or book an appointment. If you discover an option that works better for you, we can change the account type right away.

Yes. The Generation Account includes unlimited free access to ATB Personal and the ATB Personal banking app, as well as unlimited telephone banking inquiries.

Yes. Within Alberta, you pay regular fees at non-ATB ABMs. You should be notified of these fees and prompted to approve them before proceeding with the transaction.

Withdraw cash at any ABM outside Alberta, but within Canada, on our dime. We'll reimburse up to $4.50 per withdrawal for up to two withdrawals per month.

Travelling outside of Canada? Withdraw cash at any ABM on the Cirrus^® network for a fee of $5 per withdrawal (this does not include fees you may agree to pay when making the withdrawal at the non-ATB ABM). We'll reimburse $8 for one withdrawal each month at ABMs in the US.²

This account currently offers a line of credit. Additional features like overdraft protection and global transfers will be available sometime in 2024.

This offer is for Albertans who are new to ATB. You qualify if you^*:

• Be between 18-25 years old and a resident of Alberta.
• Haven't had an ATB chequing account, savings account, Mastercard, or personal loan with us in the last 3 years.
• Open a new eligible chequing account during the offer period and provide a valid email address so we can keep you updated on your bonus status.
• Keep your accounts active and in good standing for at least 12 months.
